Being a corporate events photographer requires a multiplicity of skills.  Of course, ‘corporate events’ can mean so many things, ranging from a small networking drinks reception of a dozen or so people through to a black tie charity ball for hundreds.  But because all events contain the same basic elements you learn to look out for, and anticipate, certain things.  But then you have to remember that each event is different too (!), so you have to constantly be on the lookout for the novel elements that make each event unique.  In other words, split your brain into two independently working halves, constantly find the same and the new, and photograph it, and you’ve cracked it …

One of my last jobs of last year (and the last Christmas reference I’ll make until the end of 2018) was at Mottram Hall, shooting an end-of-year Christmas party for Unique Digital Cinema.  As I said above, you soon learn that there is a standard format for such events – drinks reception, followed by a sit down dinner, followed by dancing.  Within that structure though …… anything could happen!  There might be speeches; awards might be given out; a cheque handed over to a charity or ……. as in this case, there might be sixty five confetti cannons let off in a room all at the same time (scroll down to see the evidence of that one!), a great close up magician doing his thing, the Singing Waiters rocking the room (and – of course – getting everyone up on their feet and waving their napkins in the air to ‘Amore’.  How about a surprise visit and routine by Boogie Storm though?  Have you ever seen a troupe of dancing stormtroopers?  No, me neither until on this occasion.

In other words, a rather brilliant corporate event!

I’m a corporate events photographer throughout the year, not just at Christmas!  Whether you’ve got a huge awards ceremony, with invited speakers and star guests or a small private dinner for a handful of people, the marketing and PR benefits of good photographs can be enormous.  Or, you just might want a record of a great event for internal company use.  Either way, I’d be happy to chat.  Please drop me a line via the contact form or give me a call on 07766 815703.
