Queen Hotel Chester event photography for the ILP – and Bhangra!
Last month I found myself back at the Queen Hotel in Chester to photograph another Awards dinner, this time for the Institution of Lighting Professionals. It was nice to be back – it had been a couple of years since my last visit, which was for a Rotary Club dinner (and which I blogged about in this post, Black tie dinner at the Queen Hotel Chester).
Shooting a group of people quickly and efficiently is something I’ve done ever since I started working professionally as a photographer twelve years ago. Every wedding I’ve photographed (and there have been many over the years) has included some formal family group shots, every Awards dinner, every PR event, cheque presentation, prize draw winner, sponsor and guest shot, is some form of group shot. I’ve vast experience to draw on to get a good shot, and to get it quickly. Because Awards dinner have a packed schedule and things need to run to time.
Then, as a surprise for the assembled guests ……. some bhangra dancing courtesy of the Lions of Punjab from Birmingham. A nice touch, and something that will make the event live on in the minds of the audience for a long time afterwards.
As the year rolls on into autumn and winter the number of events, and particularly business awards, increases. But whether it’s a lunch or dinner, large or small, casual or black tie, I’ve experience of photographing them. Please give me a call if you’re interested in having a record of an event that you’ve got coming up – not to mention great shots to give to awards winners as a memento of the event. (And don’t forget that the photos are great for PR afterwards too).
